This is a question we hear all the time so we designed a very simple roof slate calculator to help you gauge how many slates you need for your roof.
How many slates will i need for my roof.
Need to find out how many slate per square.
For example if you re using a 20 10 slate 500mmx250mm you will require 21 slate per m2.
How many roof tiles do i need.
The general rule of thumb and for this example we ll use the most common size of 500 250 or 20 10 is for every 1 meter squared of roof you need 21 slates.
The first thing you need to do is find to find these three measurements.
The answer depends on the length and width of the slate and also the headlap that is used when installing.
Area of slope rafter length x roof length x 2 on both sides of the roof with the figures in this example the calculation would look like this.
A square is a 10 10 foot section use the calculator below.
A 24 12 slate 600mmx300mm demands only 13 slate per m2.
How many roof slates per m2.
The amount of slates you need per square metre m2 depends on which slate size you re using.
Simply select the size of slate you need and enter the size of your roof in m2 into the box.
The normal headlap is 3 inches but this may need to be increased when installing on a lower slope roof.
