Tips and tricks on how to open your rv awning.
How do i lower the awning on my travel trailer.
With your helpers lift the arms of the awning against the rv walking the awning in slowly as someone feeds the fabric back into the channel.
Once the awning is in place make sure the lower section of the legs are locked in so you don t have to worry about it falling.
You do not need to put the screws back in.
The next thing you have to do is roll up your awning.
Cover the whole camper awning and be liberal while spraying.
Wait about 5 minutes unroll the awning and hose it off well with fresh water.
I like to do this every fall when i am already cleaning out my rv.
An awning rafter knob also known as a tension knob top and travel latch bottom.
Step 1 undo the travel latch or lock that holds the awning to the side of the rv.
Spray the entire underside of the using the spray bottle.
Reattach the rear awning leg and lower both leg sections completely.
If you have a standard spring loaded awning with small black rafter knobs loosen the knobs now just a few turns are necessary don t remove them or loosen them all the way.
Spraying the awning comes next in the list.
If you are using a manual spray bottle it is better to get a step stool.
The manual advises using a mixture of cup bleach cup dishwashing liquid added to 5 gallons of water.
It then states to spray this solution liberally all over the top of the awning and roll it back up.
This works for both automated awnings and manual retractable awnings.
If you are satisfied move on.
I have my own little method of doing this.
Let the mixture sit there for about an hour.
This way i can just spray the awning and clean out the rv while the mixture is.
